Ballarat Dental Group is one of Australia’s oldest established dental practices, able to trace its lineage way back to the 1890s. The practice was started in the late 1890s by one W.E. Thomas who had branch practices in Beaufort, Ararat and Bacchus Marsh, and travelled from one to another in a smart horse and gig. Following several inheritances, the practice passed on to Dr. Peter Richards who moved and modernised the practice to its current American-styled (Kilpatrick) building at 11 Lyons Street North in 1965
Various assistant dentists worked with Dr Richards until Rudy Jansen joined the practice from Adelaide in 1970, followed by David Goldsmith who emigrated from England with his family in 1974. Both became the eventual partners of the Ballarat Dental Group. Another change came at the turn of the millennium when Dr Han-Han Chung joined the practice with her husband Dr Tam Nguyen and also became partners.
Ever growing, renovations were made to the practice with major extensions and updates. With 9 dentists, 6 dental rooms, over 10 auxillary staff and the latest technology, Ballarat Dental Group is equipped to deliver the best services and tailored treatment outcomes to our patients.
