Prevention is better than cure!
The best way to avoid dental disease is to take good daily care of your teeth. Brushing and flossing are important.
Just as important are regular dental visits to check for the first sign of decay or cracks that could eventually lead to an infected tooth.
Regular cleanings is important to maintain a healthy mouth and smile.
Fissure sealants is a dental treatment to help protect the back teeth from developing cavities.
They are a protective coating that is painted into the fissures to stop the deep grooves from collecting food and bacteria.
This treatment is simple, painless and takes a few minutes only per tooth to complete. The benefit can last for many years to help prevent dental decay.
Gum disease, oral cancer, cysts, abscesses, and the early development of tooth decay as well as a loss in jawbone density due to periodontal disease are some of the conditions able to be detected through digital radiographs, which may not be seen during routine examinations until they reached an advanced stage
Digital radiographs are efficient and emit up to 80% less radiation than traditional radiographs, which also require film and chemical processing. They can be stored electronically and emailed to specialists to whom you may be referred for more complex procedures.
Digital radiographs also help us monitor your treatment progress. How often you will need to have updated digital radiographs will depend on your personal needs and diagnosis of your current oral health.
White fillings are a more desirable alternative to amalgam (metal) fillings. White composite resin fillings are rapidly becoming the most popular treatment choice with our patients when they require a filling.
Their strength, durability and identical appearance to your natural teeth allows them to be used on both front and back teeth.
Using true artistic skill, our team at Ballarat Dental Group will sculpt and mould the composite material to blend with your surrounding and opposing teeth creating a smile with a flawless appearance.
Aesthetically, white fillings when polished have a translucent lustre allowing you to smile with confidence.
Root canal treatment (also called Endodontic treatment) is a specialty of dentistry which involves the saving of infected teeth. This process involves removing the damaged nerve, disinfecting and filling the nerve chamber of the affected tooth.
The best way to avoid root canal is to take good daily care of your teeth. Brushing and flossing are important. Just as important are regular dental visits to check for the first sign of decay or cracks that could eventually lead to an infected tooth. Prevention is better than Cure.

There are many different causes for tooth discolouration. These include ageing, coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco, and certain types of medication. Teeth Whitening can transform an ageing and discoloured smile into a striking smile.
The Teeth whitening procedure we use consists of a gel that is applied to your teeth in which you can achieve up to 8 shades lighter. The gel is dispensed into custom-fitted bleaching trays, (similar to a mouthguard) which are then worn overnight while you sleep, in only 7-10 days you have the whiter smile that you’ve always dreamed.
Veneers are essentially a thin layer of material (porcelain or composite) to cover your teeth to improve the appearance of your smile and/or to help protect teeth. Veneers can fix worn or chipped teeth, discoloured or stained teeth, crooked teeth or teeth with gaps.
Ballarat Dental Group has been servicing the community smiles for special events such as weddings and special occasion birthdays with new long-lasting smiles, using dental veneers.

Our orthodontic philosophy at Ballarat Dental Group is to create healthy and beautiful faces. For us it’s not just about straight teeth. We achieve this by focusing on and assessing the head and neck as a whole. This includes the facial profile, the airways, the temporomandibular joint, jaw shape and size as well as factors that can influence jaw development and teeth positions (i.e. tongue posture, swallowing patters and any oral habits).
Dental implants are the closest to a natural tooth replacement. There is no need for a removable plate or additional damage needed for making dental bridges.
Ballarat Dental Group proudly use Dentsply Implants, one of world’s leading implants with well documented evidence for long-term success rates.

Jaw joint or facial pain, and sometimes headaches can be attributed to excessive clenching or grinding of your teeth.
These can be managed by simple methods such as stretching, massage, cold/heat packs and general awareness of your jaw muscle function.
However, it may be necessary to have splints custom made to your jaw to help to calm down this action in the long term and prevent the pain from coming back.
